Youth Initiative for Human Rights and My Initiative activists have marked August 30, the International Day of Missing Persons, by demanding revealing of the fate of 1837 missing persons since the last war in Kosovo.
“Denial of the families rights to know the fate of their loved ones is continuity of violations of the fundamental human rights; we demand from the governments in the region to be more active in searching places where bodies are hidden and to punish war criminals” – said Besart Lumi from Youth Initiative for Human Rights.
International Day of Missing Persons have been marked with an symbolic action in the center of Prishtina, where activists have encircle the middle of the Mother Theresa square with red and white tape, and put inside old shoes; each pair of shoes had a question mark on it.
