At the end of last year, we covered the plaque in Jasenovac which contained the symbol of hatred and racism, and thus invited those who installed the plaque to remove it. It is unbelievable that the Government of Croatia, with all its agencies and ministries, is still not able to formulate a law proposal by itself, thus showing incredible incompetence. The example of the memory plaque in Jasenovac, with symbol of hatred publicly displayed, shows complete incompetence of the institutions to efficiently control compliance with the Constitution and sanction any violation of the law.
Of course, this is not only about incompetence. This is also about an acute lack of political courage on the part of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who simply does not dare to enforce the laws of the state whose Government he is running, although this is in the core of his mandate. We have already invited Prime Minister to resign when he failed to react to scandalous call of a member of his party, Mr. Marušić, to convict us for high treason and shoot us. We still do not understand Mr. Plenković’s motivation to be Prime Minister when he obviously does not wish, does not know and/or is not able to enforce the laws of our Republic.
We use this opportunity to tell him that incompetence and lack of political courage for removing the symbol of fascism from the public space send negative message to young people and endorse the system of values that is discriminatory and incites hatred. The Government is obliged, in the name of defence of constitutional principles of the Republic of Croatia, to punish attempts like this one and remove the plaque from Jasenovac.
