On the occasion of EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajčak’s visit and meeting with Kosovan representatives in Washington D.C. on Saturday, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights calls on President Vučić and other government representatives in Belgrade to approach this phase of negotiations in a manner different to those that have preceded.
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights commends constructive dialogue between the highest state officials of Croatia and Serbia, and particularly the announcement of talks about bilateral agreement on criminal prosecution and punishment of war crimes. In the upcoming period, YIHR will monitor the process of adoption of the agreement and, in order to support the dialogue as a whole, it will soon present the proposal of a public policy with defined open issues and solutions for them.
In the eve of the meeting of Croatian President Grabar Kitarović and Serbian President Vučić, Youth Initiative for Human Rights’ message is: “While our societies go towards cooperation, politicians are trying to halt that process.”
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Croatia (YIHR Croatia) and Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Serbia (YIHR Serbia) strongly condemn a polemical discourse on the ethnic composition of missing persons between the representatives of governments of Croatia and Serbia.
